The First Encounter It was the first day of classes after the summer break. The university corridors were bustling with students, their voices mingling with the sounds of conversation as they hurriedly searched for their classrooms. Y/N was walking, clutching several books to her chest, occasionally checking her schedule on her phone. She disliked crowds, preferring to walk along the trees where it was quieter. Across the street, Henry was leaving the medical school building after his first lecture. He was heading to the library to borrow a reference book, walking calmly as usual, seemingly oblivious to his surroundings. Suddenly, Y/N bumped into a student running at full speed, sending her notebooks and pens flying across the sidewalk. The student stopped for a second, apologized quickly, and continued on his way. Henry, however, immediately changed direction and bent down to gather the scattered notebooks without saying a word. He handed her the last one after making sure nothing was left on the ground. She smiled shyly and said, “Thank you… I’m sorry I inconvenienced you.” He replied calmly, “You didn’t inconvenience me.” A short silence followed, then he nodded and left for the library, while she continued on to her lecture. The whole encounter lasted no more than a minute. But that evening, as Henry reviewed his notes, he found himself remembering the girl who had been trying to gather her notebooks and apologizing even though she hadn’t done anything wrong. He hadn’t fallen for her yet… But he couldn’t forget her quietness, her small smile, or the way she had thanked a stranger as if he had done her a great favor. “Strange… why do I still remember her?” he thought to himself without realizing it. He didn’t know that this fleeting encounter would be the beginning of a feeling that would slowly creep into him, until every time he passed the engineering building or the library, he would find himself unconsciously searching for her with his eyes.
